The City's Clerk's Office is responsible for preparing Agendas for City Commission Meetings, recording and transcribing the Minutes of the Meetings, collection of Street Paving and Demolition Assessments, and conducting Municipal and School Board Elections. Applications for the sale of alcoholic beverages are filed with the City Clerk, as are applications for Bail Bonds and Private Investigator Licenses, and petitions for annexation into the corporate limits of the City of Dothan. Damage Claims against the City of Dothan are also filed in the City Clerk's Office..

The Dothan City Commission meets every other Tuesday at 10:00 am in the Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Civic Center.

CITY CLERK MISSION STATEMENT:
To record and archive statutory and designated official information, resolutions and ordinances of the City of Dothan and certify to the actions of the City Commission.
Street Paving Assessments
Statements for Street Paving Assessments are mailed yearly June 1st, and are due by June 15th. Those wishing to determine if certain property has a Street Paving Assessment against it must submit the request in writing, along with a legal description of the property, and if the property is a corner lot. This may be delivered to the City Clerk's Office in person, or mailed. For more information concerning Street Paving Assessments, call (334) 615-3163.
Demolition Assessments
Assessments for demolition of substandard property are also collected by the City Clerk's Office. For more information about Demolition Assessments, call (334) 615-3163.
Alcoholic Beverage Applications
Businesses wishing to sell alcoholic beverages, both on and off premise, must apply with the ABC Board, telephone (334) 792-9155. The application is then filed with the City Clerk, and must be approved by the Board of Commissioners before the license can be issued. Petitions for Annexation into the Corporate Limits of the City of Dothan
Petitions for Annexation are obtained from the Planning and Zoning Office, 3rd Floor, Room 303 of the Roy Driggers Municipal Building (Civic Center), telephone (334) 615-4412. Completed petition, along with a legal description of the property and a map showing how the property is contiguous to the existing City Limits, is filed with to the City Clerk.
Damage Claims
Those wishing to make a claim against the City for damages must submit a written request to the City Clerk. The letter should contain the date of the incident, where it happened, and a description of the damages. Also, a total amount should be specified, and an itemized list or three estimates should be attached. Municipal Elections
The City Clerk is responsible for conducting elections to fill the positions of Mayor and Associate Commissioners for the six districts of the City of Dothan. Terms are for a four-year period, and elections are held every two years, with elections for the positions of Mayor and Associate Commissioners for Districts 1, 3 and 5, alternating with Associate Commissioners for Districts 2, 4 and 6.

School Board Elections
Elections for Chairperson and members of the Dothan City School Board are held in conjunction with the Municipal Elections, with the Chairperson and Representatives for Districts 1, 3 and 5 being elected at the same time, and Representatives for Districts 2, 4 and 6 elected at the same time.
