About Commissioner Snellgrove

Critt Snellgrove is a native son of Dothan and is the middle son of the late Hubert and Mary Masters Snellgrove.  His older brother is Bob Tom Snellgrove (deceased) and his younger brother is Craig Snellgrove, who lives in Dothan. Critt has a sister-in-law, Therese Snellgrove and two nieces, Melody and Olivia Snellgrove.


Critt was elected to a two (2) year term on the Dothan City Commission on August 2, 2011.   He is a 1965 graduate of Dothan High School.  He attended Auburn University his freshman year and then transferred to Wallace College in Dothan for his sophomore year where he played basketball and baseball on an athletic scholarship.  He was on the first baseball team and the second basketball team at Wallace College.  He then returned to Auburn and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1970.  While attending Auburn, Critt was president of the Auburn Circle K Club (a service organization sponsored by Kiwanis) for two (2) years.


After graduating from Auburn, Critt returned to Dothan and became a member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club, and has been a member since early 1971.  Critt has perfect attendance in Kiwanis for over 40 years, and has served the Dothan Kiwanis Club as Vice President, President, on the Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the Circle K Committee since 1971.  He has also served Kiwanis as a Lt. Governor for Southeast Alabama.


Critt’s governmental experience includes working as the assistant to a former Dothan City Manager, and working as an Inspector in the State of Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.  He is also a graduate of Dothan 101, a continuing education class on Dothan city government. Critt has served on various boards including the Dothan Civic Center Board, the Alabama Service Station Association Board, the Dothan Rescue Mission Board, as well as the Dothan Kiwanis Club Board.


Critt owned and operated the Woodland Service Station from 1981 to 1998.  He served his country as a member of the U. S. Air Force Reserve as a medical Service Specialist.

Critt is also a licensed funeral director and works at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan.  He is currently serving on the board of directors of the Alabama District Kiwanis Foundation where he represents Kiwanians in Southeast Alabama.


Critt is a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church in Dothan where he serves as an usher and serves on various committees.
