Looking for some interesting activities designed for the 50+ crowd? Dothan's Department of Leisure Services offers a facility especially for senior adults at the Rose Hill Senior Adult Center.
This senior adult program is specifically designed for individuals 50 years and older, however you must be 60 or older to qualify for the meal program. Rose Hill Center is a wonderful place to feel "at home" and in the company of friends. Various activities and programs are provided to meet the needs of senior adults in the Dothan community.
Located at 401 South Appletree, Rose Hill always welcomes new participants during its regular hours of operation Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m
The Center's amenities include two game rooms, a sewing room, craft room and program room with guest speakers appearing on a scheduled basis. Participants enjoy activities in the exercise room computer lab, woodworking shop, in addition to the shuffleboard courts and covered picnic pavilion located just outside the Center.
Rose Hill offers instructional classes for computer, exercise, golf and tennis. Seniors also take pleasure in activities such as bingo, dominoes, cards, arts & crafts, and quilting.
Participation in the walking and diners clubs, monthly birthday socials, bowling team and more add to Rose Hill's enthusiastic spirit.
Special events and trips are planned throughout the year with an annual trip to camp for a week of fun and games in the outdoors where other senior adults from throughout Alabama join in. The seniors also enjoy attending the annual Alabama Recreation and Parks Association Senior Adult Convention.
Rose Hill serves as a Title III Nutrition Site in conjunction with Southeast Alabama Regional Council on Aging (SARCOA). It is the organizational purpose of the Department of Leisure Services to provide the citizens of Dothan with a broad and comprehensive selection of recreation programs and leisure activities to enhance the quality of life in the community, to maintain a system of parks and recreation facilities for community enjoyment, and to continue planning and developing future programs and facilities as area needs change.
