The function of the Southeast Wiregrass Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is to work with the governmental entities of the area and the Alabama Department of Transportation to determine transportation needs and funding priorities through the Long Range Transportation Planning process. The policies and practices of the MPO are used to guide the development of a balanced transportation system, encourage the preservation of neighborhoods, protect the environment, enhance the community's quality of life and promote public transportation.
